Flora and Henry

Design Concept:
Historical, romantic, innovative, quality, childlike, sophisticated

Design Solution:
The premise of the design was to create a childlike environment using the tools of softness and the twisting of scale. This was expressed by using a very muted pastel color palette and employing oversized pieces in the space (e.g. oversized ottoman and flower urns, huge antique doors to the offices, very high ceilings and floor to ceiling drapes). The latter components created an "Alice in Wonderland" effect, as well as a sophisticated grandeur, not unlike an elegant European Boutique. Contemporary, innovative aspects to the design were created through the use of a raw steel open staircase to the upper mezzanine office, raw waxed concrete floors, contemporary wall panels, shelves/rods, and cashier's desk.
