Clients had a desire to have the interior spaces open up to the outside spaces in the summertime.
The client wanted a casual, timeless space that referenced many periods of beach house aesthetic.
Design Concept:
Flexible, timeless, light and airy environment; very practical for cleaning and upkeep.
Design Solution:
Rid the house of most of its dated 1970's aesthetic and borrowed materials and details from other historical periods
(e.g. glass mosaics in bath, stainless and traditional cabinet details and sinks in kitchen).
Changed master bedroom to open to the living room so that it could function as either den or bedroom.
Brought stone from landscape into floors throughout living room and kitchen, which opened to stone exterior dining in the summer months.
Traditional slip-covered furniture forms in white that could be easily cleaned and bleached without fading.
