A sense of romance fused with craftsmanship were also requirements of the final aesthetic.   Design Concept: Craftsman-like, historic, contemporary, tactile, contextual, romantic, comfortable, casual and eclectic.   Design Solution: Honoring craftsmanship was highlighted throughout the project (down to engraving names of all those worked on the project on the wall at the entrance of the house). Joints, connections, and materials throughout the house were exposed to the eye, with great care. Furnishings and accessories were selected from different eras to express an eclectic nature and romantic comfort. Antique area rugs were used in all rooms with the earthy oceanfront colors found in the landscape and juxtaposed against contemporary Mapplethorpe artwork. Slipcovers were used on all upholstered pieces for practicality and maintenance.
